Spring is Coming...

It is technically my Friday so of course I have all this extra energy!!!  And my husband is on his way home so I am anxiously awaiting his arrival.

Spring is coming about as slowly as I run... Sure was a pretty view yesterday.

My lil kindergartener helping tie her friends shoe.  Looks like she is doing a good job on the skeleton puzzle too.

I know this doesn't look like much but my grandpa built this balance beam for my sister and I maybe in 1989.  The carpet was old and falling off- literally. I duct taped the carpet on and was so ashamed I didn't take a "before" picture.  One of the staff members took it home last weekend and recovered it with new carpet for me.  My kindergarteners thought I bought a brand new balance beam.  I'm glad someone else can enjoy it as much as I did when I was little.

My physical education version of an Easter Egg Hunt.  Students were placed on teams of 2-3 and one at a time had to do a locomotor skill to the cones to retrieve and egg.  If there was one under the cone they ran it back to their teams bucket and gave a high five to their teammate.  When I thought all the eggs were found everyone crab walked to the cones and turned them over.  Then I gave them two eggs to rehide and we started over.

A cute pintrest Easter idea.  Being 'Egg' cellent sure made my day!

Today is a perfect day to post some Throwback Thursday pictures.  This weekend I might have to snag the old photo albums to see what other Kodak moments I can dig up.  And people wonder where I got my good looks.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

I should probably be in bed already but I figured I would share some of my daily blessings to keep me in the Holiday Spirit.  This weekend was spent working more on our taxes and then balancing our checking account.  Yep, that took a couple of hours.  I usually am really good about staying on top of things like that but these taxes are getting the best of me.

Saturday I ran my first Tri in three years.  Every minute of the thing was tough and I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest.  I kept thinking a marathon is easier than this...  Makes me really wonder what June will bring.  My funeral maybe?

Today in school the kids seemed out of control.  Three more days of teaching and then the final break before school gets out in May.  That seems almost too far away to think about.
Kid Rock and Bebo Norman
Last week Monday upon returning from Virginia Beach Cale and I went to the Kid Rock Concert.  How my two favorite artists vary so drastically from a Rocker who sings about smoking and drinking to a Christian artist who praises God is beyond me but I love them both.

Praying this Easter for my hubs to come home for good.  Also thoughts and prayers to my Grandma who had a close call last week.  I lost my Grandma Cas just over a year ago and I am not ready to loose another one.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Shamrock On

Virginia Beach, VA waking up to the Atlantic Ocean.  Why can't it ever be really nice when we come here?

Last Weekend I ran the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon.  Usually I don't repeat races or states unless they are close events but two years ago I Shamrocked and thought it was such a fun weekend I decided to Shamrock my Irishness a second time on St. Patrick's Day.

Cale had to stretch it a little to get people to believe he was Irish.  Don't you think he pulled it off?

Virginia Beach does a great job with this event.  There is also a Townebank 8K, Leprechaun Run and Kids Final Mile the day before the Full & Half Marathon.  The swag bag includes a tech shirt and this year when we finished runners got a hat and fleece blanket.  It was perfect for walking back to the hotel in with the wind coming of the ocean.

Any hotel along the boardwalk is not a far walk from the starting line and the full marathon starts at 8:30am giving you plenty of time.  The course fast and flat running down the boardwalk at parts and finishing by Neptune Statue.  There is plenty of road space and you never feel like you don't have enough room to run.  There is part of the course that runs through Fort Story and along Cape Henry where you are able to run past the Cape Henry Lighthouse.

Last month I thought my Garmin 305 had finally said goodbye.  Thank goodness it turned on just before leaving for Birmingham.  It started acting funny again a couple weeks ago forcing me to break the bank on another Garmin.   My Garmin 610 doesn't seem to have as many options as my 305 or maybe I just haven't read the handbook enough but so far I miss my 15lb watch.  Could be why I ran faster last weekend with my new one.

Shamrock On!

Hebrews 12:1
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

Laundry and Taxes

Seems like I have spent the last month working on taxes.  I started at the table and then moved to the floor.  After trying to pick it up every night I gave up.  This is what my floor looks like and I just keep stepping over it.

Last night I worked on my laundry in between.  No wonder I was running out of athletic clothes... Capri's, bike shorts, sports bras and running tanks. Good thing I can double everything for my work clothes.

Does anyone else hang their laundry to dry?  My husband loves ducking to get down the hallway and into the bedroom.

Today was Kindergarten screening so lucky me had a couple of open periods to work on my pedometer data.  I can not wait to be done with these things for the year.  I will have so much more time during my week to focus on teaching.

Onto more exciting news, I am solo again this weekend.  My husband is almost finished with this grand daddy project.  This hotel has been going on for six months and I've had about as much alone time as I can take.

I am incredibly proud of my husband and his crew of men that have worked so hard in North Dakota's wicked winter to put this thing together.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
